PRESIDENT'S REPORT
MARCH 01,2008
I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year. I would also like to apologize to our members (old and new), that did not receive their monthly letter, before the meeting. The Corresponding Secretary is trying to solve the problem. Please do not forget that we have a Web-site (Haffenparksportsassn.org), which provides the names of the Club officers, and a calendar for 2008.
The first meeting of the Haffen Park Sports Association Club, took place on March 1, 2008. Our new Vice-President Esmond Waldron, was able to contact the Parks Department, and we were able to use the community room. We were able to meet the new Park Supervisor, and Ray has pledged to work with us, in order to make Haffen Park the best park in the City.
The Topics of Discussion included:
1. The Calendar for 2008 was discussed, and several changes were adopted.
2. The best dates for hosting special events were examined, and we were able add a few more activities through-out the summer.
3. We revisited some old business, that created a lot of discussion last year, such as the Junior Development Program, the Junior tournament, and the Round Robin Doubles Tournament
. 4. We also discussed some new business, that will affect the club. Ms. Laverne Pauling will not be directing the Ladder Competition. Therefore, the club will be looking for someone to take over this position. Anyone that wishes more information on the duties of the Director of the Ladder Competition, should contact Ms. Pauling, to get an idea of the scope of duties and responsibilities of the position.
Our sympathies to all of our club members that have lost a loved-one, relative or friend, in the new year. Toussant Foster is now convalescing at Calvary Hospital (Eastchester Rd). His wife Evelyn has encouraged everyone in the club, to drop by when you can, and cheer up a long-time member of our club.
