The members in attendance constituting a quorum, the meeting of the Haffen Park Sports Association, Inc.
was called to order by Fred Brown, the current President, on April 04, 2009.

There were several important topics discussed, including the following:

1. Esmond Waldron brought up the observation, that he tried to warn club officers and members, that if HPSA did not
use the community room or club house for more than monthly meetings, the Parks Department would prohibit the
Club from using the community room.
He stated that since the members of HPSA did not utilize the park house on other days of the month, Mr. Scapelli was
directed by the Parks Department to remove the fish tank and the plants, that the club had placed in the room, in order
to give it a more pleasant environment.

The plants and the fish tank were removed, but only after an ill-conceived act to communicate directly with the Parks Commissioner, and try to remove other users of the parkhouse, by other groups, such as the Senior Citizen Club.
This stupid act angered so many immediate supervisors and workers, that HPSA was deemed to be persona non grata.

We have attempted to mend some fences by scheduling a meeting with the District Park Director, and according to
Joseph Small a meeting will be held as soon as Mr. Wright is able to fit us in his schedule.

2. Teah Walluh presented some information about a phone system, that can be purchased by the club, that can
act as an automatic messaging system, to alert all club members of any important information that the Executive
Committee wished to dissiminate to the membership. The club would have to subscribe to a service provider.

In view of the fact that the cost was not provided, members agreed to table the discussion until the next meeting,
and more information would be available, before voting on this proposal.

3. Esmond Waldron informed us that the Parks Grant Funding had called him to tell him that HPSA had an account
with $790.00. This money was given to the club back in 1999.
Our treasurer Bob Hedgepeth followed up and called the person in charge, and we have made contact with the
right people to have the funds disbursed to the club.
The money is strictly for the purchasing of tennis equipment that the club needs, in order to run the tennis
programs outlined for the year 2009.
If any member wants to make a suggestion regarding a tennis accessory that we can purchase, please do no hesitate
to contact any club officers or other members.

4. The Instructional Program for Children and Adults was presented by Laverne Pauling.
The program will consist of the following time:
CHILDREN MONDAYS AND WEDNESDAYS TIME: 4:15 PM TO 5:30 PM
CLASSES START ON MAY 04, 2009 AND WILL END ON JUNE 10, 2009

ADULTS CLASSES WILL BE HELD OF SATURDAYS TIME: 1:30 PM TO 3:25 PM
BEGINNING ON MAY 09, 2009 AND WILL END ON JUNE 20, 2009

5. Mr. Hedgepeth will be reporting on the membership card proposal, that was voted on by the members.
It appears that the design is almost ready to be presented to the club.

6. There will be a cook-out on May 02, 2009 after the club meeting. In addition, we will also have a free tennis clinic
that will be directed by Ms. Pauling. All participants and volunteers are welcome!!!!!

7. Bob Hedgepeth presented the Treasurer's Report. The economic condition of the Club is stable.
We are open to any ideas that any member may have, that will generate more funds for HPSA.

Due to the uncertain situation relative to our Correspondence Secretary(Ray Burton), Ms. Pauling has agreed to
continue to do these additional duties for the club.
I am sure all members join with me and thank her most fervently, and are grateful that so many of our members are
willing to chip in and help out when and where needed. We sincerely appreciate all of their efforts and sacrifice.

St. Nicholas Tennis Club will be hosting HPSA on June 14, 2009 at Crotona Park, Bronx, New York.
All members wishing to participate in this tennis shindig, please contact Esmond Waldron and let him know.
There will be singles and doubles competition. But the idea is to have FUN, FUN, FUN.

See you at the next meeting on May 02, 2009.

Stay Well
